How to set your default SMS sender ID is a topic that might sound new, unnecessary, or less important but in reality, you might not know what it means to set your default sender ID on Nigeria Bulk SMS. If you can set a name, usually your brand name as the default sender ID on the platform, it makes messaging easier for you at any time.
You might or might not know what “sender ID” means. A Sender ID is the display name on the section of the sender of an SMS on your mobile phone. It is basically the name you would want your recipients to see as the sender when they receive your SMS.
A sender ID is an alphanumeric string, that can be used as the “from” address for SMS text messages that are sent. A character-based sender ID, usually the brand or company name, is commonly used for one-way SMS messages. The SMS protocol technically limits the sender ID to max. 11 characters.
The alphanumeric sender ID gives the sender the ability to send messages using a custom ID constructed from a combination of alpha (a-z, A-Z) and numeric (0-9) characters, including spaces. Any other characters (e.g. dots) should be avoided. Using a Sender ID makes the sender of the SMS identifiable to the recipient of the message.
For instance, you receive an SMS from “MTN”, “UBA” or IMART. These are sender ID’s.
Sender ID, in a nutshell, could be the name of your brand, group, church, school, or business.
Once your recipients receive an SMS, they automatically know who has sent an SMS and would most likely open it.
“Sender ID” and “Default sender ID” are not exactly the same thing. I will tell you why:
Sender IDs are not decisive, they can be changed several times meaning you can use “orange” today and “Green” tomorrow. While Default Sender IDs are decisive, it is not changed. Meaning if your only business name is “ORANGE”, ORANGE will be your default SMS sender ID.
Why You Must Set Your SMS Sender ID
First and foremost, it has become very important and urgent for your sender ID to be registered in other for your recipients to receive your message with your sender ID instead of a default generic sender ID such as “be informed”, “r notify”, or “bulk sms”.
To register your sender ID(s) ASAP, simply send an email to [email protected]. State the sender ID or IDs you would like to register in your mail.
Sender registration is free and it takes 24 hours to complete. Meanwhile, your sender ID is automatically included in your message content pending when it is registered.
Usually, after a successful login to your Nigeria Bulk SMS account, you will see the text message page which contains sections for your recipient numbers, contacts, message content, and default sender ID.
While sending bulk SMS, the biggest mistake and embarrassment would be a spelling of your sender ID wrongly. You don’t want that to happen. Neither do you want to go through the stress of typing the same Sender ID all the time.
So, if you use a particular sender ID, simply set it up on your Nigeria Bulk SMS account as default.
That way, your default sender ID stays inside the box in the “sender” section. You don’t have to type it when you log in to send a bulk SMS.
Awesome right?!
